Dr. Jill Althoff relocated to Colorado in 2002. Born and raised in a small town in North Dakota, Dr. Althoff was attracted to Windsor's small town feel and the friendly people. She was also drawn to the area for the warm weather, the outdoor sports, and the mountains.
Dr. Althoff knew that she wanted to be in the medical field from a very young age. She was very active in competitive gymnastics and had several injuries because of it. She also suffered from severe asthma as a child and young adult. She would have attacks while exercising, while going about daily activities, and with the cold winter air. Instead of her asthma getting better with age, it continued to progress. In college, she struggled with missing classes because of asthma attacks and multiple episodes of pneumonia and bronchitis. She was under a specialists care, but couldn't seem to get her asthma and allergies under control. After being on Prednisone and multiple inhalers for a couple of years, she was looking for a more natural solution. Dr. Althoff knew she did not want to continue to give up her passions and did not want to live on medications that had many side effects.
In addition, she was involved in a car accident while in college that resulted in damage to her neck, discs, and nerves. This eventually lead to intolerable nerve pain down her right arm into the fingertips. At one point, the surgeon said that she would have to have surgery. After trials and tribulations with different types of care, she experienced relief from a combination of chiropractic care, massage therapy, and physical therapy. After that, she made it her MISSION to help others resolve similar nerve problems without surgery or drugs.
This all lead to her becoming a Doctor of Chiropractic and pursuing a career to change peoples lives with natural healthcare. While in grad school, she found natural solutions to both her asthma concerns and her nerve pain. She feels like the care she received not only changed her life, but SAVED her life.
